Poor air quality is the largest environmental risk to public health in the UK.
The most immediate air quality challenge is tackling the problem of NO2 concentrations around roads – the only statutory air quality limit that the UK is currently failing to meet.
The issue is particularly experienced in towns and cities. The UK Government is committed to taking action against poor air quality in urban areas.
