Performance status trend report set explained

This page is aimed at members looking to compare the number of average amount of infringements their drivers have incurred against traces received/analysed over certain periods of time, whilst benchmarking these against the national, sector and company averages. Measured over a 12-month rolling year.

Level 1

The set starts at company level (level 1).

The report is set out as a line graph with different coloured lines symbolising the different calculations.

Red line - drivers' hours infringements average per trace.

Calculation - drivers' hours infringements divided by number of traces equals average.

Yellow line - record infringements average per trace.

Calculation - record infringements divided by number of traces equals average.

Orange line - drivers' hours and record infringements average per trace.

Calculation - drivers' hours infringements plus record infringements divided by number of traces equals average.

The report looks at a year's worth of data up to the day you ran the report from and is split into months which are displayed, at this level on the bottom axis of the report.

Level 2

This level is still reporting at company level but also contains the benchmarking national and sector average lines as well as the overall company average.

Red line - drivers' hours infringements average per trace.

Calculation - drivers' hours infringements divided by number of traces equals average.

Yellow line - record infringements average per trace.

Calculation - record infringements divided by number of traces equals average.

Orange line - drivers' hours infringements and record infringements average per trace.

Calculation - drivers' hours infringements plus record infringements divided by number of traces equals average.

Sky blue line - company average (will be the same as combined (royal blue) line at company level/level 1).

Calculation - companies driver's hours infringements plus companies record infringements divided by companies number of traces equals average. This is calculated for the whole period within the report so is a fixed average line.

Green line - national average (combined drivers hours and record infringements per trace).

Calculation - national drivers' hours infringements plus national record infringements divided by national number of traces equals average. This is calculated for the whole period within the report so is a fixed average line. National = all companies data that FTA analyse traces for.

Navy blue line - sector average (combined drivers hours and record infringements per trace).

Calculation - sectors drivers' hours infringements plus sector's record infringements divided by sector's number of traces equals average. This is calculated for the whole period within the report so is a fixed average line.

The period of this report set always looks at a year ending in the date the report is being run back to the same date in the previous year e.g. 24/08/2008 to 24/09/2009. The report is plotting the averages for each month within this year.

As the report can be run from any date the first and last periods may not always be for a whole month.

Eg if the report is run on 24/09/2009 the last period in the report will be from the 01/09/2009 up to the 24/09/2009 and the first period will be from the 24/09/2008 to the 30/09/2008.

The month's in between the first and last period will be complete months running from the first to the last day of that month eg 1/10/2008 to 31/10/2008.

At the footer of the report is a table which displays the raw data of traces, drivers' hours infringements and record infringements for each period.

Levels 3 onwards

The report drill downs perform the same calculations as the user goes through the levels all the way down to driver level.

The calculations are appropriate to the area, depot, driver's report the user is in.

Pink line - plots the combined average of drivers' hours and record infringements from the previous report level. Eg in a drivers' report who belongs to Aberdeen, the pink average line will be displaying the data for the depot Aberdeen - so in effect will be the same as the orange line from the report level above.
