FTA is calling on government to take measures to improve the safety of smart motorways, following a report by BBC Panorama, which raises concerns about the safety of smart motorways and indicates that reform may be imminent.

The business group is also calling on the government to commit to a nationwide programme of upgrades to the rail network; HS2 will not solve capacity issues in other regions.
