Beat the Bank Holiday traffic with FTA app
Friday 27 May 2016
With the forecast of 50% increase in traffic over the Bank Holiday - this weekend is expected to be one of the busiest on Britain’s roads.
According to the FTA, London and the South East of England will experience the worst queues with the big jams likely to be on motorways - particularly the M25 between junctions 9 and 21, where 90 minutes of gridlock traffic is anticipated for drivers travelling in both directions on Saturday.
The Freight Transport Association is advising motorists to keep up-to-date with what is happening on the roads and to prepare for their journey using the FTA app; drivers can avoid the jams using the Association’s traffic information service which provides the latest on hold-ups on the roads.
The FTA app uses data supplied by INRIX Media and focuses on serious delays being experienced on the UK network. The updates can be accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and are updated every 15 minutes to provide more effective real time traffic data.
As well as traffic updates the FTA app provides information on the latest legislation, freight news, and fuel prices, enabling users to keep all the logistics information they need in one place.
News that in an attempt to cope with the increased volume of traffic, Highways England has promised to minimise congestion by reducing the number of roadworks over the weekend, has been welcomed by the FTA.
