Traffic Commissioners to share knowledge at FTA Transport Manager 2019

Tuesday 02 July 2019

The Traffic Commissioners will be headlining FTA Transport Manager 2019, sponsored by Bridgestone Tyres, sharing with delegates their priorities for the coming year and detailing the latest action taken on operators at Public Inquiries, enabling them to avoid non-compliance.

Transport Manager 2019 will be held across 11 UK venues in autumn 2019 – Yeovil, Peterborough, Newcastle, Manchester, London, Southampton, Belfast, Falkirk, Doncaster, Coventry and Chepstow – and the local Traffic Commissioner to each location will be present with the exception of the Belfast conference.

Senior Traffic Commissioner, Richard Turfitt, commented: “At a time of uncertainty for the industry it is important not to lose sight of the achievements made to improve road safety and compliance.  Continuing professional development is vital to how a responsible transport manager approaches the requirement for effective and continuous management of their transport operation.  There has been a step change in the approach to maintenance over the last few years and the guidance was further strengthened in November 2018.  Transport managers need to keep up to date on issues such as brake testing, managing maintenance and the employment of drivers, how to avoid bridge strikes to name but a few of the current issues.  This is why Traffic Commissioners welcome the opportunity to speak at events such as the FTA Transport Manager series.”

Also sponsored by Schmitz Cargobull and Brigade Electronics, the annual events highlight key developments and challenges within the logistics industry and this year a wide range of topics will be covered including tyres, technology and how to significantly reduce your fuel budget; brake testing; urban restrictions; trailer developments; future regulations; Brexit; and drivers’ employment status.  There will be an essential legislative round up and technical update highlighting the main topics on the horizon that vehicle operators need to be aware of in order to ensure the safety, compliance and efficiency of their organisation, and there will also be the return of the highly popular interactive quiz.

Prices for attendance have once again been held at last year’s rates.  For FTA members the cost is £295 plus VAT for the first delegate and £265 plus VAT for subsequent delegates; for non-FTA members £395 plus VAT for the first delegate and £365 plus VAT for subsequent delegates.  This price includes access to all the exclusive conference sessions, a full package of refreshments throughout the day and a take-home bag packed with useful information.

Transport Manager will be touring the UK from September to November 2019.  For further information or to book a place go to https://fta.co.uk/tm2019 or call FTA Customer Services on 03717 11 22 22.
