Safety first: Van Excellence launches brand new event

Wednesday 03 July 2019

Operating a van in an unsafe manner can lead to large fines, imprisonment, injury, or even loss of life. To promote the safe and efficient operations of vans, Van Excellence has launched a brand-new event: Van Operations: Your responsibilities, sponsored by MBNI Truck & Van.

Taking place at RADAR NI in Belfast on 21 August 2019 between 8.30am to 12.30pm, Inspector Rosie Leech MBE of the Northern Ireland Police Service (PSNI) will join Mark Cartwright, Head of Vans at FTA, for an informative and interactive morning. Attendees will leave the event with a comprehensive understanding of how to reduce risk, improve safety and increase the wellbeing of their drivers. The event is also sponsored by Bott, Brigade Electronics, Hertz, Lex Autolease and Quartix.

Administered by FTA, Van Excellence is a best practice scheme for van operators of all sectors and fleet sizes.  Mark Cartwright, who heads up the scheme, commented: “The consequences of operating a van unsafely can be enormous; from large fines, prison sentences, to even loss of life. Operators must take their responsibility to their drivers – as well as other road users – very seriously. That’s why we launched a new event, Van Operations: Your responsibilities, to arm with operators will the toolkit they need to reduce risk by improving safety and increasing the wellbeing of their drivers.”

Places are available free of charge. To book your place, visit https://fta.co.uk/nivan

Administered by FTA, the leading organisation in UK logistics, Van Excellence was created in 2010 to promote the safe operation of vans, represent the interests of the sector, and celebrate operators demonstrating excellent standards.  Central to the scheme is the Van Excellence Code, a set of minimum best practice standards all van operators should aspire to achieve, covering safety, efficiency and sustainability.
