The logistics sector contributes billions of pounds to the economy each year and is one if the UK’s largest employers. But logistics is about more than scale – it is the backbone of every other sector. Without it, factories, hospitals, schools, shops and homes could not function.
The UK’s Modern Industrial Strategy (June 2025) states that “the freight and logistics sector makes a vital contribution to the UK economy and the Competitiveness,” and the Business and Trade Secretary said it is “critical to the UK’s economic prosperity, security, and wellbeing” (March 2025).
Through case studies, we are showing how logistics underpins clean energy, advanced manufacturing, construction, defence, creative industries, life sciences and more. These are the industries driving our economy forward – and they all depend on logistics to keep their supply chains moving.
