This session will allow attendees to offer their views on the development of a Work Related Road Safety Charter, which forms part of the Department for Transport’s Road Safety Strategy. Operators will be asked to sign up to this Charter to help drive down rates of killed and seriously injured on the roads in a voluntary manner in the first instance, so it is vital their voices are heard in its creation.

Diabetes is a known and foreseeable risk in the workplace, from hypos to eyesight and peripheral neuropathy, yet few companies are aware of this. Diabetes effects 1 in 6 people who drive professionally for a living and 1 in 3 people over the age of 55 years. 54% of people run their bloods higher at work to ensure they are productive but over time this leads to complications with 28 in 1,000 leaving the workforce early (between ages of 45-65).
Staff retention, productivity and risk management are essential as diabetes rises with 700 people a day diagnosed. The presentation will discuss all of this and the latest findings along with what employers need to be doing to ensure a diabetes safe workplace. You will leave with practical solutions and actionable steps.
