Conduct of meetings

The group follows Logistics UK Conduct of Meetings Policy.

The working group’s purpose is to:

  • Shape, inform and help direct Logistics UK’s customs and border related policy positions in responding to, and influencing, measures proposed or taken by the UK Government, in matters that affect customs and trade.
  • Create a forum for the presentation, understanding and discussion of policy matters and industry developments that are relevant to international operators and traders.
  • Champion and showcase good practice and approaches taken by international traders and operators to meet current challenges facing the sector post Brexit.
  • Seek opportunities to raise the profile of the role of customs and international trade within the broader logistics system.

The membership of this group consists of representatives of members that operate in customs and trade processes in the course of their business operations or who have an interest in becoming an international operator or trader.

Some of the key issues that we have covered this year in detail are the Border Target Operating Model, changes to customs processes such as the migration from CHIEF to the Customs Declaration Service (CDS) and the future introduction of the EU’s Entry Exit System. We have had guest speakers attending to give updates and having Q&A from HMRC and DEFRA. Our three meetings a year meeting rotates between online and hybrid, so there is always an option to dial in virtually. The current membership consists of international traders, international hauliers, customs professionals and freight forwarders.

If the above group is of interest to you or your organisation, you would be very welcome to join us. If you have any further questions about this group, please feel free to contact Josh Fenton, Policy Manager – Trade, Customs and Borders at jfenton@logistics.org.uk
