Shape the future of water freight with coastal shipping and British ports seminar

Friday 02 November 2018

The Freight Transport Association will be supporting the Coastal Shipping and British Ports Seminar, a one-day event dedicated to maximising the potential of waterborne freight transport. The event will be organised by the British Ports Association (BPA), which represents the interests of UK’s ports nationally and internationally.

To be held at the UK Chamber of Shipping in London on Thursday 29 November 2018, the seminar presents a chance for port representatives, shipping operators and their customers to explore the opportunities and challenges facing the sector, including the possible development of new shipping routes and the expansion of the current policy and grants framework. It will also provide a platform to discuss their business needs and aims and share knowledge and expertise.

Alex Veitch, FTA’s Head of Global Policy, who will be presenting at the seminar, commented: “All logistics businesses should consider water as a cost effective alternative to move goods around the UK and further afield. And in the current environment of Brexit uncertainty, now is the ideal time to explore alternative options. With exciting new markets and routes to be discovered, coastal shipping should take its place an essential part of any multi-model strategy.”

The seminar is free to attend for all members of the FTA and the BPA. To secure your place, please click here. For non-members who wish to attend there will be a cost of £75 +VAT per person – please contact sara.walsh@britishports.org.uk to sign up.
