FTA conferences break attendance records three years in a row

Tuesday 06 November 2018

The Freight Transport Association’s Transport Manager 2018 conferences have exceeded all previous attendance records for the third year running, with a total of around 1,600 delegates already signed up for or attending this year’s events.  And with bookings still being taken for the remaining three conferences in Newcastle, London and Birmingham, the total number of registrations could reach 2,000 attendees.

The ten exclusive conferences, sponsored by Bridgestone Tyres, highlight key issues for anyone operating commercial vehicles and include an address by the local Traffic Commissioner with a staged driver hearing, insights from the DVSA, a briefing by Bridgestone Tyres on tyre safety and the environment, as well as sessions on Earned Recognition, urban restrictions, lowering your emissions, the role of technology in managing risk, the impact of Brexit, managing your maintenance provider and smart tachographs.

Carlie Nowell, FTA’s Head of Events, said: “This year’s Transport Manager series is even bigger and better than ever, and has already shown its value in helping transport managers remain compliant and fully informed.   We’ve already exceeded all previous attendance records with seven successful events behind us and three more still to go, but want to ensure we reach as many transport managers as we can across the rest of the programme.  In such a complex sector it is vital that operators remain compliant and up to date with the latest legislation, and the Transport Manager series provides the ideal opportunity to gather the very latest sector information, straight from policy makers and managers.

“There are still places available at our remaining venues in Newcastle, London and Birmingham so anyone who hasn’t already booked their place still has the opportunity to come along and learn what’s going to be important to the sector in the year ahead.”

The conferences, which are also sponsored by Brigade Electronics and Microlise, offer a unique opportunity for transport managers to keep their professional knowledge up to date and gain advice and guidance from leading industry experts.

David Magill, National Transport and Logistics Manager at SHB Hire Ltd said the staged driver hearing with the Traffic Commissioner which forms part of this year’s programme of activity was excellent and a real eye opener, and described the conference as “The best event I have been to yet.”
