Chair of Logistics UK’s Water Council joins UK’s largest port operator


Tim Morris, Chair of Logistics UK’s Water Freight Council, has been appointed Group Head of Corporate Affairs at Associated British Ports (ABP), the UK’s largest port operator.

He will lead all aspects of Corporate Affairs including government relations, media relations and external communications.

For the last five years, Morris has been CEO of the port industry’s trade association UK Major Ports Group. Prior to that he held a variety of senior communications, sustainability and strategy roles in the industrial group Tata Steel, following six years with McKinsey in their strategy and corporate finance team.

Julian Walker, ABP’s Chief Commercial Officer, said: “ABP is delighted that Tim has agreed to join the team. He brings with him a wealth of industry knowledge and experience. Tim will play a critical role to help deliver our ambitious growth strategy and the leading role ABP will play in enabling the UK’s energy transition.”

Commenting on his appointment, Morris said: “I’m excited to be joining ABP at this point. As the UK’s largest port operator it's playing a leading role in enabling the trade we all rely on, boosting growth and opportunity and providing the foundations for a more sustainable future. Corporate affairs has a key part to play in achieving these crucial goals both for ABP and the UK. I’m looking forward to getting started alongside the great team at ABP.”

Alexandra Herdman, Secretary of Logistics UK’s Water Freight Council, said: “It has been a delight working with Tim, both in his recent capacity as council chair and previously as an engaged and vocal member of the council. Along with everyone else at Logistics UK, I wish him well in the next chapter of his career in the maritime sector and hope to work with him again in the future.”

TRL ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF NEW CHAIR

The Board of the Transport Research Foundation (TRF), the holding company of TRL Ltd, has announced the appointment of Dr Clive Hickman OBE as its new Chair with effect from 1 November 2022. He has been Chief Executive of the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) since its formation in 2011 and he will continue his involvement with MTC, becoming Chair in 2023.

Hickman succeeds Charles Rice, who was only the second Chair of the TRF since its privatisation in 1996, and steered the organisation through major changes.
