Dr. Andrew Traill
Principal Technologist – Freight and Logistics, Transport Systems Catapult
Andrew has over 25 years’ experience in the freight transport, logistics and international trade policy arena. From a doctorate at the University of London in European inland and short-sea shipping to the representation of UK ports, British and European shippers (including 12 years with the FTA), Andrew has knowledge across all modes of transport and trade compliance. Whilst Policy Director for the European Shippers Council, he established The Shippers’ Voice, a web portal raising awareness of issues and practices impacting shippers globally.
Since, Andrew also helped establish and launch the industry-led emissions reduction programme, Green Freight Europe, developed an on-line course explaining how to calculate a carbon footprint of road freight transport operations, and worked on various projects in the freight, logistics and compliance world.
In April 2015, Andrew joined the Transport Systems Catapult, as a Principal Technologist - freight and logistics. Leading a team of freight and supply chain specialists, the Catapult has initiated, facilitated and participated a number of R&D programmes to accelerate key innovations fostering supply chain-engineered logistics, that place the UK on a firmer footing for building jobs and economic growth in the digital age, around new mobility services, connected and automated systems and data driven services.
