Are we missing out on rail freight?

Ed Wilson, Business Development Manager, Network Rail

Although much of the focus on the railway today is around passenger travel, its origins lie in finding a better way to move goods around the country. Even today, the rail Network carries almost 10% of the UK’s Freight traffic.

With the pressure on operators to find more environmentally friendly ways to move good as around the country, and some academics even proposing the installation of overhead electric wires to the motorway network to provide electric power for long-haul, it’s too easy to forget hat the UK already has a national trunk network that is capable of carrying much more freight traffic offering a cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative.

In this session Ed Wilson will demonstrate how the Rail network offers new and exciting possibilities to the Logistic sector, despite being the oldest form of transport in widespread use today!
