VE Day: Time for logistics to rise up and get involved

80 years on, the country is coming together through a series of national and local events and will show our gratitude to the men, women and children who fought for our freedom and paid the ultimate sacrifice to give 80 years of peace.

This year will be particularly poignant, as it will be one of the last opportunities to honour our living Second World War veterans, who fought so hard to preserve peace and freedom that enables our shared way of life. Logistics played a huge role in the Allies’ campaign, from getting troops and all their supplies to the front to keeping those at home stocked with what little food and other goods which were available.

The VE80 Campaign is encouraging logistics businesses nationwide to get involved in the programme of national celebration and remembrance, which will begin on 5 May with a national procession at the Cenotaph in London, and include street parties, a concert in Horseguards Parade and memorial events at the National Memorial Arboretum.

Every business has a story to tell, whether through the experiences of its staff and their family members or about the work that was carried out during the war itself.
