Launch of the Adaptive Capacity Alliance

The launch of the ACA is being led by the Ministry of Defence’s National Armaments Director Group, as the defence sector looks at how it can work more closely with logistics to strengthen its supply chain resilience in the event of war.

Sustained global disruption, for instance the conflict in the Middle East, has altered how we think about resilience.

Defence needs to be able to scale at pace when it matters and depends on the support and collaboration of the logistics sector, which underpins the UK supply chain and is responsible for ensuring the movement of goods across the country.

The ACA will seek to establish not only what capacity exists but how the network is currently connected and how it would respond under pressure, working towards early engagement with the logistics sector and sharing insights and understanding.

Mr Roe said: “The world’s security is becoming more fractured and unstable, with the current situation in the Middle East demonstrating how quickly issues can escalate and have a global impact on all of us.

“In my role as Logistics UK’s President, I have been invited to co-chair the MoD’s Adaptive Capacity Alliance, an association which aims to prepare the country’s logistics network to support national efforts in the event of war.

“It is a great opportunity for our sector to demonstrate our flexibility and can-do attitude, and I welcome those who are interested in supporting the work of the alliance to join us in London on 16 June.”
