Logistics UK welcomes new Traffic Commissioner for Scotland
Sharon Clelland has been appointed by the Secretary of State for Transport as a Traffic Commissioner for Great Britain.
Clelland will be deployed by the Senior Traffic Commissioner to the Scottish traffic area.
Clelland, who begins her role on the 6 April 2026, joins the Traffic Commissioners from her previous role as Head of Legal Services for the Police Investigations and Review commissioner.
She brings extensive legal experience in policing and the justice sector having worked previously for the Police Service of Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
Senior Traffic Commissioner Kevin Rooney said: “I am delighted that Sharon has been appointed to the traffic commissioner team. She brings with her significant insight from her considerable experience in law enforcement and the emergency services which will be used to great effect in our efforts to improve road safety.”
Logistics UK’s Senior Policy Manager Alexandra Herdman said: “Logistics UK warmly welcomes Sharon Clelland as the new Traffic Commissioner for Scotland.
“Our members have been eagerly awaiting this appointment, and we look forward to working with her as she brings her extensive legal and public service experience to the role, supporting safe, efficient and compliant operations across Scotland’s logistics sector.
“We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Richard Turfitt for his dedication and leadership while serving as Acting Traffic Commissioner. His stewardship during this transitional period has been greatly appreciated by our industry.”
