Logistics UK urges Welsh Government to ensure delivery of Maritime and Logistics Plan

The plan, which was published on 19 March, took a major step by recognising the critical role the logistics sector plays in supporting trade and growth across Wales and the wider UK.

Logistics UK’s Policy Lead for Wales Josh Fenton said: “Logistics underpins the Welsh economy and prioritising the sector is key to economic resilience and growth.

“The Maritime and Logistics Plan will be a major part of recognising its role and identifying the opportunities available, but there needs to be sustained focus on its adoption and delivery by whichever party wins the Senedd Election.

“The plan needs to ensure that it works for logistics, by addressing what matters most to the sector. This includes current and future skills needs and developing energy infrastructure.

“The success of the plan also hinges on the Welsh Government taking an active role in overseeing the strategy by chairing the Maritime and Logistics Council.

“The sooner the plan is implemented, the sooner Wales can maximise the benefits logistics provides and drive growth.”
