Logistics UK secures permission for the use of hydrogen on non-road mobile machinery
This follows a response from Logistics UK to a consultation in May 2024 in which we stated that this vehicle special order (VSO) requirement was a barrier to a wider uptake of low emission and zero emission NRMM.
This category includes, but is not limited to, diggers, mobile cranes and other construction machinery, which currently cannot be used on the public road without an exemption, known as a VSO.
This permission will be restricted to newly constructed vehicles. Members will be kept informed on legal developments as they take place.
Stephanie Haszczyn, Senior Policy Manager at Logistics UK said: “This is an important step in assisting owners of these vehicles to take further steps towards net zero operations.
"Avoiding the need to seek a vehicle special order will lower the barriers to the wider uptake of low emission and zero emission NRMM both now and in the future.”
