Government announces additional planning reforms to speed up infrastructure

The amendments include scrapping “burdensome” statutory consultation requirements for major projects, cutting the average two-year pre-consultation period in half.

The Planning and Infrastructure Bill Committee met for the first time on 24 April. Ahead of this, Logistics UK provided written evidence to the Committee and offered briefings to Rachel Taylor MP and Jim Dickson MP who we have built strong relationships with.

Logistics UK also submitted evidence to the Environmental Audit Committee's inquiry into airport expansion and climate and nature targets.

“To ensure that the logistics industry can continue to deliver for the UK’s economy, it is vital that planning reforms are speeded up, so that infrastructure and construction projects can be moved forwards at pace,” says Jonathan Walker, Logistics UK’s Head of Infrastructure.
