Former Minister for Transport and Logistics, Guy Opperman, confirmed for Delivering Decarbonisation conference

Logistics UK is delighted to announce that the keynote speaker for this year’s event is Guy Opperman.  

Guy Opperman was the Minister for Transport and Logistics in Rishi Sunak’s government from 2023-2024. Prior to that he was the Minister of State for Employment with responsibility for growing the logistics sector.

As the logistics and transport minister Guy supported the Generation Logistics campaign, hosted the sector in a parliamentary reception in February 2024, and made multiple visits to transport hubs and businesses from Fergusons in Cramlington to Elddis in County Durham, and multiple other sites across the country.

As a minister Guy passed the ESG legislation in the UK, passed legislation committing the UK to net zero by 2050 and developed a campaign as the longest serving UK Pensions Minister to make pensions “safer, better and greener.”

Before politics Guy was formerly a steeplechase jockey, a barrister and he helped run the family engineering business. He was the Member of Parliament for Hexham from 2010-2024.

Guy worked as a minister or PPS for 12 years with roles in the Home Office, Treasury, DWP and Transport departments. Guy served in the government of four Prime Ministers from 2012-2024. Since 2024 and leaving politics Guy has established himself as a consultant and advisor to a variety of countries and corporates.
