Coordinated action and targeted reforms needed to achieve equality, says Logistics UK
The submission makes clear that while some progress has been made on gender equality, there is more to do regarding disability and ethnic minority inclusion in particular. It also makes a number of suggestions as to how to improve diversity and inclusion in the logistics workforce.
Bethany Windsor, Logistics UK's Head of Skills Policy and Generation Logistics commented: "While we’ve seen meaningful steps toward greater gender representation in logistics, there’s still a long way to go when it comes to disability and ethnic diversity.
"Our submission to the APPG sets out a clear message: if we want to build a truly inclusive and future-ready workforce, we need coordinated action – not just good intentions. Logistics UK is calling for targeted, practical reforms. These include greater flexibility in the use of the Growth and Skills Levy; urgent improvements to the Access to Work scheme and extended National Insurance exemptions to support inclusive hiring.
"These are not theoretical ideas – they are achievable actions that would unlock access to untapped talent. By acting now, we can ensure logistics becomes a sector of choice for people from all backgrounds."
