Certas Energy adds new truck stop to its portfolio
Certas Energy has acquired the Ecclefechan truck stop in Lockerbie as it continues its mission of making essential amenities more widely available and prioritising driver wellbeing.
Located one mile from junction 19 on the A74, the truck stop will benefit the 16,000 HGVs that pass on the motorway each day.
The organisation will aim to replicate the success of the first truck stop in its portfolio, TheStop at The Hollies. Ecclefechan provides 217 spaces, is powered entirely by 100kW wind turbines and will soon have electric HGV chargers installed as part of improvements Certas Energy has planned.
Maddi Solloway-Price, Head of Road Freight and English Regions Policy at Logistics UK said: “We applaud Certas Energy for this recent acquisition as part of its aim to improve the quality of truck stops across the UK.
“Many truck stops are lacking in the proper facilities, forcing drivers to go without basic amenities that some of us wouldn’t think about, like showering and having hot food.
“Logistics UK’s newly launched initiative, Best Truck Stop of the Year, is inviting drivers to nominate the truck stops they think have gone the extra mile and are worthy of recognition.
“We’d encourage drivers to get involved and be part of our efforts to uplift standards across the board.”
