Ask the traffic commissioners at FTA Transport Manager conferences

Monday 17 July 2017

Senior Traffic Commissioner Richard Turfitt says the Freight Transport Association’s Transport Manager conferences sponsored by Iveco are an important engagement tool, allowing operators to understand the regulator's perspective and share their concerns about the industry.

Mr Turfitt and his colleagues will be speaking at all 10 of the Association’s conferences this autumn, which feature five new bigger venues for 2017.

Mr Turfitt said: “The role of Transport Manager, whether statutory or voluntary, is key to most operators managing their safety and compliance. Traffic Commissioners recognise the value of operators and Transport Managers who want to get things right.

"These events offer a valuable opportunity to ensure that safety management is effective and up to date, which is why Traffic Commissioners are delighted to again be part of the FTA’s Transport Manager series. It also allows opportunity for us to engage with local operators and to hear about the key issues affecting their businesses."

The conferences, supported by Brigade Electronics and Goodyear Tyres for 2017, have been running for more than 20 years. This year’s key issues include vehicle camera technology, HGV terrorism security, legislation changes and other important information and advice to help transport managers remain compliant.

These ‘must-attend’ conferences broke records last year for the number of attendees, exceeding 1200 for the time in the event’s history. Five new venues have been chosen for this year’s series to enable more delegates to be accommodated.
