Drivers in focus at FTA Van Excellence briefings
Monday 25 January 2016
Announcing its forthcoming Van Excellence Operational Briefings, the Freight Transport Association has said that drivers and people will be the main focus of the three events scheduled to take place in April this year.
The programme will examine the ramifications - often serious and sometimes catastrophic - of something going wrong, and will look at the strategies and processes operators could and should be putting in place to measure, manage and reduce the risk and impact of shortfalls. The FTA Van Excellence Operational Briefings are sponsored by Van Excellence Industry Partners ATS Euromaster, Bott Ltd, BT Fleet, Hertz Van Rental, Lex Autolease and Tom Tom Telematics.
Last year’s two events attracted almost 600 delegates from van operators of all sizes and all sectors, and proved so popular that there will be three dates this year - Tuesday 5 April at JCB World, Rocester, Staffordshire; Thursday 7 April at Mercedes-Benz World, Weybridge Surrey; and Thursday 14 April at Westerwood Hotel and Golf Resort near Glasgow.
Mark Cartwright, FTA’s Head of Vans, said:
“Many people behind the wheel of a van probably use their vehicle as a mobile toolbox. The likelihood is they think of themselves first and foremost as plumbers, electricians or civil engineers, and the chances are they don’t think of themselves as drivers. But they are still commercial drivers in the eyes of the law.
“This year’s Van Excellence Operational Briefings will take a closer look at the way drivers’ actions can impact on how a fleet operation works, and will reflect on how planning and consideration can improve the way they work and the image of the van driver here in the UK.”
The FTA Van Excellence Operational Briefings are must-attend events for all van operators, giving them the ideal opportunity to obtain the best possible advice from a practical, operational viewpoint, and giving them peace of mind surrounding the operation of their van fleet.
One free place is available to the Van Excellence Governance Group, Van Excellence accredited operators and Guide to Van Excellence subscribers. The cost of further places and for all other delegates is £50 plus VAT per delegate, or ten places for £200.
