FTA highlights global supply chain expertise at Multimodal 2011

The Freight Transport Association's stand at this year's Multimodal exhibition will highlight the various services available to companies in the global supply chain, and FTA's policy team will be on hand to discuss the Association's ongoing representational work.

FTA’s brand new Container Shipping Contract Service, which provides a comprehensive subscription package for shippers, will be launched at Multimodal. The service includes:

• Standard Maritime Contract, to use under licence
• Guidance and advice on how to interpret and use the contract to best advantage
• Expert legal advice on contract terms selection, based on an understanding of the intended shipments
• An invitation to an exclusive seminar to hear from experts on optimising contract terms
• Access to a full legal advice and consultancy service specialising in contract drafting and negotiation

Chris Welsh, FTA’s General Manager, Global and European Policy, said:

“FTA’s Container Shipping Contract Service will allow logistics buyers to benefit from a solid contractual framework that can be customised to meet the individual commercial requirements of the shipper and the carrier, providing confidence and clarity to all parties involved whatever the trade, service or market.”

The team will also be available to discuss the expansion of its carbon reduction research work, in conjunction with Heriot-Watt University, to encompass the decarbonising of the maritime supply chain.

The stand will feature FTA’s Logistics Buyer Information Service (LBIS), a subscription service that ensures companies’ logistics supply chains are cost-effective, competitive and sustainable. Managers involved in the buying of freight services and managing complex logistics supply chain processes will find LBIS an essential business tool, and an online demonstration of the service will be available on the stand.

Visitors to the stand can also find out about FastTrack, a new free service that assesses whether rail freight could be an option for companies in the UK. The service is ideal for shippers, haulage companies and anyone who relies on road haulage at present, but wishes to see if rail would complement their operation.

Multimodal 2011 takes place at the NEC, Birmingham, from 5-7 April. Delegates can find FTA on stand 200 in Hall 4.
