FTA says goodbye to a true Scott

Gavin Scott, the Freight Transport Association’s Head of Policy for Scotland, retires on 5 July after more than 30 years based at the Association’s office in Stirling.

Gavin has been the voice of FTA in Scotland for the past decade, successfully influencing a number of high-profile decisions, such as FTA’s demand that the second Forth crossing should be a bridge and not, as some argued, a tunnel. Gavin also oversaw a huge transformation in FTA’s activities in Scotland following the formation of the devolved Scottish Government.

James Hookham, FTA’s Policy Director said:

“Gavin has become synonymous with freight transport and logistics in Scotland over the years and he can retire safe in the knowledge that FTA members and the Scottish nation have benefited from his understanding and shrewd insight on many issues.”

Chris MacRae will take over as FTA’s new Head of Policy for Scotland. Chris, from Glasgow, has been with the association for 17 years. Chris is well known within the transport industry, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience with him to the role.
