Wednesday 26 June 2024

Logistics UK is supporting Rail Safety Week, a vital initiative in raising awareness and promoting the importance of rail safety across the industry and communities it serves. Safety is critical to the efficient operation of Britain's railways, which provide a vital link between Britain's industry and its customers, and Ellis Shelton, Senior Policy Advisor, Logistics UK says:

“Logistics UK is proud to support Rail Safety Week and put the safety and security of the nation’s railways firmly in the spotlight to protect all those working on, or with, the country’s rail network. The UK has set ambitious rail freight growth targets and rail transport stands as one of the safest and most reliable modes of moving goods across the country, contributing to both economic stability and environmental sustainability.

The rail industry already has a strong and ingrained safety culture and initiatives such as Rail Safety Week enhance rail safety for all.”

Logistics UK is one of the UK’s leading business groups, representing logistics businesses which are vital to keeping the UK trading, and more than seven million people directly employed in the making, selling and moving of goods. With decarbonisation, Brexit, new technology and other disruptive forces driving change in the way goods move across borders and through the supply chain, logistics has never been more important to UK plc. Logistics UK supports, shapes and stands up for safe and efficient logistics, and is the only business group which represents the whole industry, with members from the road, rail, sea and air industries, as well as the buyers of freight services such as retailers and manufacturers whose businesses depend on the efficient movement of goods.
