Logistics UK launches search for Transport Manager of the Year

Logistics UK has launched the search for its first Transport Manager of the Year; a new competition aimed at celebrating the very best transport managers in industry.

James Firth, Logistics UK’s Head of Road Freight Regulation Policy, comments: “We are thrilled to be launching this brand-new event to provide transport managers with the opportunity to showcase their extensive knowledge and be recognised by other industry professionals. Successful transport managers possess a multitude of skills and a wealth of industry knowledge; as well as a complete understanding of compliance requirements, transport managers are responsible for ensuring operations are as efficient and sustainable as possible and must be proficient at vehicle maintenance and driver management. Following various challenges in recent years, this new competition is a perfect opportunity to celebrate the invaluable contribution transport managers make to industry.”

The competition will take place over multiple stages and will include a legislation and compliance knowledge test as well as a case study submission and online interviews. Selected finalists will then be granted free entry to Logistics UK’s Transport Manager conference in Coventry on 1 December 2022, where the winner will be announced. Prizes include a £1000 holiday voucher for first place, and a £500 shopping voucher for second place, with both also receiving two tickets each to the much-anticipated 2022 Logistics Awards.

To enter, applicants must hold a valid Certificate of Professional Competence in Road Haulage (National or International) or equivalent (in accordance with paragraphs 8 to 13 of Schedule 3 of The Goods Vehicles (Licensing of Operators) Act 1995). Candidates must also be either currently named as an internal transport manager on a standard national or international goods operator licence or employed by a restricted operator licence holder to conduct a role equivalent to transport manager. Consultant or external transport managers are not eligible to enter.
