Manchester, Nottingham and Birmingham... look out for the Generation Logistics AdVans this weekend!
Generation Logistics, the award-winning awareness campaign for the sector, is continuing to innovate in the ways people consider careers in logistics with the use of three innovative AdVans to coincide with GCSE results day.
The vans, which will carry the campaign’s distinctive orange and black livery and messages for those considering their career options after receiving their GCSE results, will be on the streets of Manchester, Birmingham and Nottingham over Bank Holiday weekend to raise awareness of the careers that the logistics industry has to offer.
And, as Phil Roe, the campaign’s executive sponsor explains, the creative execution used will encourage young people to interact with the opportunities that the industry has to offer, there and then: “We all know that young people want instant experiences, from social media to direct contact with opportunities,” he explains, “and so we are using the AdVans to test their response to our campaign exactly where they spot them, on the streets.
"By using QR codes on the vehicles, we are confident that young people that spot our vans out and about will interact with them there and then – it’s an opportunity to demonstrate how forward thinking and different our industry is, and challenge any preconceptions that they may have about our sector.”
Anyone who spots the Generation Logistics AdVans out and about is asked to post images of them on social media with the hashtag #GenerationLogistics.
And as Roe continues, this activity is ideally timed to kickstart the campaign’s Back to School focus, as well as the start of its third year: “This is the perfect timing to refocus attention on the Generation Logistics campaign, as we start planning our third year of activity and young people eye the return to school after their summer holidays.
"We have ambitions to extend our work into junior schools in our third year, as well as continuing to work with senior schools and across social media to raise awareness of the sector, so now is an ideal time for potential sponsors to come on board and reap the benefits of the awareness that Generation Logistics creates for career opportunities in the industry.”

News In Brief
Logistics UK meets senior government officials in the Cabinet Office
Parliament may be in recess but Logistics UK’s Director of Policy Kevin Green and Deputy Director of Policy, Michelle Gardner, are keeping up our engagement with government and met with senior government officials on Thursday 15 August.
Green and Gardner discussed the importance of the logistics sector and emphasised how regular dialogue between Logistics UK and the government is essential in growing the economy.
Green commented: “It was great to meet with the Deputy Directors in the Cabinet Office. We discussed how logistics underpins every sector of the UK’s economy and how vital it is to driving future growth – investment in it, and the infrastructure it needs, can support the government’s ambitions for growth.
“Logistics UK is urging the government to consider the everyday needs of the sector as part of the planning and construction process, to allocate sufficient space for logistics facilities and ensure that the needs of the sector are included as an integral part of any planning process.
“We look forward to continuing our dialogue with senior government officials when Parliament reconvenes at the beginning of September.”
