Logistics UK members scoop honours at Export & Freight awards

RiverRidge has won the Road to Net Zero award at the annual Export & Freight Transport & Logistics Awards 2024.

The “Road to Net Zero” award, sponsored by Logistics UK, was presented by the business group’s Head of Trade Nichola Mallon at a glittering ceremony at the Crowne Plaza in Belfast which was attended by around 600 guests from all sectors of the transport and logistics industry and compered by the BBC’s Mark Simpson.

Organised by the Hillsborough based publishers of Export & Freight magazine, 4SM (NI) Ltd, the event, which was first staged way back in 2001, is Ireland’s premier platform of recognition for those operating in the transport and logistics sector; it celebrates and rewards the very best in an industry that continues to meet its challenges head-on with resilience and perseverance.

RiverRidge was recognised for their focus on scope 3 emissions, and for the degree to which their process of sustainability transition was carefully thought about, including their work with KPMG’s Sustainable Future team to help all RiverRidge stakeholders from senior management to customers and professional bodies and the company’s own workers. The judges also felt it was clear the company’s sustainability plans and strategies are based on these extensive consultations and deliberations which fed into its corporate ESG Strategy.

On a very successful day for Logistics UK members, 12 other organisations also scooped awards ranging from the Workshop of the Year and Top Team of the Year to the Apprentice of the Year. And as Nichola Mallon, Head of Trade at Logistics UK comments, this is testament to the quality of operators across Logistics UK’s NI membership:

“The Export and Freight awards are the blue riband event for operators in NI and are keenly contested in every category. That so many Logistics UK members were recognised with honours for their hard work, leadership and excellence over the past year shows what high standards they set for themselves and their operations – on behalf of the organisation, many congratulations to all the winners: we are extremely proud of their success which is very well deserved.”
