Generation Logistics takes careers message to the streets

Generation Logistics, the careers awareness and recruitment campaign, continues to challenge the way young people think about the industry, as demonstrated by its latest promotional activity, which has seen the campaign bring its message to young people out on the streets of Britain.

Using interactive branded Ad vans, with eye-catching graphics and engaging messages about careers in the sector, Generation Logistics took to the streets of Leeds, Manchester and Nottingham to coincide with “results weeks” for GCSE and A level students. More than 58,000 people saw the vehicles on their travels and were viewed for 80% longer than a traditional out of home advertisement.

“We need to make sure that people reassess the way they think about our industry,” said Bethany Windsor, Head of Skills at Logistics UK, “and are always looking for ways to challenge their preconceptions about our sector. The AdVan activity was a great example of this and definitely stopped people in the street – we want to keep posing these challenges in year three to keep making a difference to the way young people think about our sector so we can futureproof our industry’s workforce.”

The activity is the latest element of the campaign designed to challenge prospective employees to reevaluate careers in logistics. Sponsorship opportunities are currently open for year three of the campaign; to receive a prospectus and more information, please email generationlogistics@logistics.org.uk

News In Brief

Hinckley Interchange deadline extended

Secretary of State for Transport Louise Haigh MP has extended the deadline for a decision on the Hinckley National Rail Interchange on 10 September, to 10 March 2025.  The planned interchange is to be part of Network Rail’s “F2N” freight route between Felixstowe and Nuneaton, lengths of which have been the subject of upgrades, and is also well placed in the national rail network to provide direct links to and from major cargo terminals at Southampton, Liverpool and the Humber Estuary.
