Roundtable on London Plan provides platform for members that operate in the capital

Logistics UK held a member roundtable on Tuesday (15 March 2022), to help inform its response to the Greater London Authority’s (GLA) consultation on its draft Air Quality Neutral (AQN) guidance.

Members were joined by a planning expert who briefed members on the detail of the consultation.

The London Plan includes requirements for new developments in the capital to be Air Quality Neutral. The draft guidance is to assist developers, boroughs and others involved in designing and planning new developments, setting air quality benchmarks to ensure that development’s transport and building emissions do not worsen air quality in London.

Natalie Chapman, Head of Policy – South, said: “It was incredibly useful to hear from our members that operate in the capital, on their views about the practical implications of the London Plan. The draft guidance raises some significant issues for the logistics sector in London, particularly the application of a trip rate to industrial, storage and distribution developments, which may not support the volume of car trips required by warehouse and logistics workers.

“We will now work on preparing a detailed and considered submission to the consultation, taking into account the views and experiences of our members.”
