Logistics UK invited to talk about NI Protocol and Brexit with US officials

Seamus Leheny, Logistics UK’s Policy Manager – Northern Ireland (pictured left), has been invited to Washington DC for a series of meetings with US officials, along with other top UK business groups, to discuss the Northern Ireland Protocol, Brexit and other issues.

In a packed week of engagements and meetings in the US capital, Leheny has been invited to receptions at the Irish Embassy, the British Embassy and the White House, where the event will be hosted by US President Joe Biden and First Lady Dr Jill Biden to celebrate St Patrick's Day.

Leheny said: “It’s a great privilege to be invited over to the US to discuss the implications of Brexit and the Northern Ireland Protocol for trade between Great Britain and the island of Ireland. The US administration under President Biden has a particular interest in maintaining the protocol, given its ability to provide Northern Ireland with access to both the British single market and the European single market. I look forward to meeting officials there to discuss how Brexit and the Protocol are impacting trade in Ireland and am honoured to be representing Logistics UK members at a White House reception with the US President.”
