Operation Brock returns to M20 ahead of busy summer season

A record number of post-pandemic passengers are booked to cross the channel in July and August on ferries from Dover and via Le Shuttle. To ensure that traffic can flow as smoothly as possible in these circumstances, the Operation Brock traffic management scheme was reinstated on Thursday 13 July and will remain in place until further notice.

Authorities expect to see peak tourist traffic travelling via Eurotunnel and Port of Dover over the Friday 21-Sun 23 July weekend.

During that period, delays for freight traffic going to/from Eurotunnel and Dover are very likely. If you can, it’s advised that you consider altering your plans to avoid the peak period. If you cannot change your plans, please be aware:

  • If Operation Brock and Dover TAP is in operation, Police and DVSA enforcement teams will be operating across Kent to ensure compliance.
  • You may also be asked to delay your exit from truck stops in the area, especially if local roads are disrupted.
  • Please check the information provided by Eurotunnel and Port of Dover before you travel, and ensure you have supplies of food and water, particularly in hot weather.

Clean Air Zone briefing note – July update

Logistics UK has updated its monthly members-only Clean Air Zone (CAZ) briefing note.

The document covers Logistics UK’s policy position on urban air quality restrictions and contains information on all CAZs in development, including Low Emission Zones (LEZs) and other clean air measures proposed for cities across the UK.

The briefing note will continue to be updated as further information is received and when other air quality schemes emerge.

Logistics UK is seeking feedback from members on their experiences with the CAZs that have now been implemented.

Please share your feedback with Ellis Shelton outlining the details of your experience.

Logistics UK’s Member Advice Centre is available to support members with technical or operational questions about CAZs.
