Tyneside Clean Air Zone now applies to vans


Newcastle and Gateshead Councils have introduced a Clean Air Zone (CAZ) for non-compliant vans/light goods vehicles that will come into effect on 17 July 2023.

The zone covers most of Newcastle city centre, as well as routes over the Tyne, Swing, High Level and Redheugh bridges.

The daily fee for non-compliant vans/light good vehicles is set at £12.50.

Applications for vehicle upgrade grants opened on Monday 21 November, along with applications for exemptions.

Charges for non-compliant taxis, buses, coaches and HGVs started from Monday 30 January 2023.

Advanced Propulsion Centre UK (APC) have launched an online survey to contribute to the development of the Mobility of Goods roadmap, part of the APC’s project to update the UK Automotive Council roadmaps (last refreshed in 2020). The survey covers the trends and drivers shaping the future of automotive transport and Mobility of Goods.
