Logistics UK to release its Logistics Report 2023 at Multimodal
“I am delighted that Logistics UK is once again, a strategic partner to the Multimodal conference at the NEC in Birmingham in 2023,” said Logistics UK Chief Executive, David Wells.
“We will be hosting and contributing to a series of panel discussions and keynote presentations, focused squarely on the timely issue of supply chain sustainability and resilience.
“Logistics is a critical sector for any country’s economy,” he continues, “but especially for a trading nation like the UK. It is the shipping lines, airlines, road haulage businesses and rail freight operators that form the fundamental backbone of the UK’s trading activity.
“While it’s true that more than four-fifths of domestic freight is carried by road or rail, international freight more often arrives or leaves our shores by sea or air. It is vital, therefore, that the interests of the whole logistics industry are represented at the highest levels of government.
“As a multimodal trade body, Logistics UK is one of the biggest business groups in the UK, making it ideally placed to support, shape and stand up for the interests of our 19,000 business members that move goods by road, rail, sea or air. We also represent a growing number of buyers of freight services such as shippers, freight forwarders, retailers, wholesalers, manufacturers, importers and exporters whose businesses depend on the safe and efficient movement of goods.
“Phil Roe will open the seminar series by presenting the key findings from our flagship Logistics Report 2023. Containing data from a wide range of national and international sources, including government departments, NGOs and industry bodies across rail, road, air and sea, this well-respected report includes bespoke analysis commissioned by Logistics UK on business costs, business sentiment and the many economic headwinds currently facing the industry. This will be followed by a plenary panel on end-to-end solutions for a resilient supply chain.
“The second day of the conference will include panel discussions on the seemingly unstoppable rise of the logistics property market, international global trade, attracting the next generation of talent and how to grow sustainable rail freight.
“I strongly urge you to attend our panel sessions and presentations, all delivered by experts in their respective fields, as well as explore the exhibition and contribute to the discussion and debate.”
Multimodal will take place at the NEC, Birmingham from 13-15 June. To register for your free ticket, please visit multimodal.org.uk.

Logistics UK approved as a FORS audit provider
Last Friday (2 June 2023), Logistics UK announced its status as a FORS Audit Provider, with audits to start this month.
David Wells, Chief Executive at Logistics UK, comments: “Following a consultation with members, and having cleared the necessary quality checks, we are delighted to have been appointed as an approved auditor for the FORS scheme and look forward to adding value via our extensive experience in auditing and compliance. Standing up for safe and efficient logistics is at the heart of everything we do at Logistics UK, and we are pleased to be assisting this accreditation scheme that promotes those values. However, the work we carry out for FORS will remain separate to the work that we undertake via our policy team for members, and we will continue to support our members in monitoring and challenging the FORS scheme where necessary.”
Speaking of the new collaboration with Logistics UK, FORS Concession Director, Ian Henderson said: “We are always delighted to be able to add to our portfolio of audit providers. Giving our accredited operators the best geographical reach and choice of professional audit services is, of course, a key part of the FORS mandate. Logistics UK is particularly well known throughout the industry, and the company has a long history of providing insightful guidance and professional audit services throughout the transport sector.”
