Logistics UK hosts work experience for Mount Camphill community students

Logistics UK welcomed students from The Mount Camphill Community, a college and cohousing community based in Sussex which specialises in a craft and movement curriculum as well as teaching independent life skills and providing internal and external work experience to young adults with special educational needs.

The four-week work experience placement was within Logistics UK's busy human resources (HR) team in November and December 2021.

During their placement, the students assisted Logistics UK’s HR team with a variety of tasks, including recruitment archiving, which required a keen eye for detail, something which the students excelled at. Poppy Higson, Resourcing Advisor at Logistics UK, said:The students have been an absolute delight to have with us: in addition to providing the HR team with valuable support, their friendliness and enthusiasm have brought joy into our offices. The Mount Camphill Community has been great to work with and we hope to start building a long-term relationship with their students and tutors, rolling out the work experience to other departments at Logistics UK which have opportunities available.”

Gemma Sherry, Work Experience Coordinator at The Mount Camphill Community, said: “We are very grateful to Logistics UK for providing this valuable and meaningful work experience placement. The opportunity for our students to work in a real-world setting is wonderful and our students have benefited tremendously from meeting and working with the HR team. They have told everyone at college about their time with Logistics UK and would be very keen to return in the New Year.”
