More than 80 members sign up for government funding for skills briefing

More than 80 members registered to attend Logistics UK’s member briefing on skills yesterday (2 March 2022).

Run in partnership with the Department for Education (DfE) and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), the briefing highlighted the potential routes available to recruit for key logistics roles, with a particular emphasis on recruiting and training HGV drivers.

Members heard from Toni Moore, Traineeships Joint Policy & Stakeholder Engagement at the Education and Skills Funding Agency and Alex Farkas, Senior Account Manager, DWP, on the available schemes and support that can help them target jobseekers and recruit them into secure hard-to-fill roles in the logistics industry.

Mags Simpson, Head of Policy Engagement, Logistics UK, who chaired the briefing, said: “We were delighted to be able to offer this briefing to so many of our members and share this important information about the schemes and support available to help them recruit for key roles within their organisations.

“I must offer special thanks to Alex from DWP and Toni from DfE for delivering such clear explanations of the many available schemes that are open to our members, helping them to plan their recruitment activity for the year ahead.”

For any member who missed the webinar, a recording can be accessed here and more information is available on the Skills Hub.
