Coastlink Live: Short Sea Shipping: Adapting the supply chain post-Brexit

Sponsored content

The Coastlink Conference, supported by Logistics UK, introduces the first session of Coastlink Live – a virtual free-to-attend online conference, taking place on 22 April 2021 between 10:00 – 11:00 BST.

The event will focus on Short Sea Shipping: Adapting the supply chain in the post-Brexit era.

FREIGHT MOVEMENT CHANGES

The conference will look at how the movement of freight is changing after Brexit and the impact this is having on both the supply chain and the short sea shipping sector.

The panel of experts will discuss the emerging changes being seen with the shift from accompanied to unaccompanied freight; the expansion of short sea routes from Europe to the UK, and the increase in direct routes from the Continent to Ireland; how the Irish Sea roll-on/roll-off trade is switching to the Northern Ireland corridor; and they will take a look ahead to the introduction of full import controls for EU to UK trade from 1 January 2022.

EXPERT PANELLISTS

Justin Atkin, UK & Ireland Representative for the Port of Antwerp will deliver the opening welcome address with Nick Lambert, Director of NLA International moderating this bitesize event.

The Coastlink Live panel of experts joining this session includes:

  • Alex Veitch, General Manager – Public Policy, Logistics UK
  • Alan Platt, CEO, John Good Group
  • Stephen Carr, Group Commercial Director, Peel Ports

Brexit has ushered in a new era for British trade,” said Alex Veitch, “and the shipping sector is crucial to help logistics serve our communities. This event will be a great way to get an oversight into emerging trends and issues across short-sea operations.”

As a preliminary to the Coastlink Conference, which this year is being hosted by the Port of Antwerp on 29 and 30 September 2021, join the Coastlink Live event to gain an insight into the latest industry views and discussion in the short sea shipping sector.
