Continental Tyres prepares fleets for Christmas rush with tyre advice videos

Sponsored content

As we approach Christmas, the demands placed on logistics and transport operations are some of the highest of the year.

With more goods being delivered to homes and businesses across the country, commercial vehicles are often the season's unsung heroes. But with increased pressure on fleet operators to maintain tight schedules, it is essential to ensure that every part of a vehicle is up to the task – and tyres are no exception.

Continental understands the critical role tyres play in keeping fleets running smoothly and at peak efficiency, and its comprehensive suite of resources is designed to provide all the knowledge and support fleet operators need to get the most out of their tyres for the Christmas period and beyond.

A key element of this offering is the recently updated catalogue of nine tyre advice videos, which have been created in partnership with Continental’s in-house training centre, ContiAcademy. The resources aim to help fleets of all sizes increase their understanding of pertinent topics to maximise the safety and performance of their vehicles.

The videos also seek to remind fitters about key elements of tyre service and maintenance. Crucially, the learnings apply to any tyre, no matter the brand, and reinforce Continental’s ambition to make the country’s roads as safe as possible.

Roadside Tyre Fitting

Commercial vehicle tyre changes happen at the roadside on a daily basis, but incorrect procedures can lead to potentially dangerous consequences. Here, Continental’s experts demonstrate the correct process for safe on-site tyre replacements.

Workshop Tyre Fitting

Complacency can easily lead to accidents. Changing tyres, even in a workshop setting, can be a dangerous task if done incorrectly. In this video, technicians are brought up to speed on the correct procedures to follow – and the right tools to get the job done safely.

Truck Tyre Wear

Minimising uneven or irregular tread wear is crucial for maximising tyre life and reducing fleet costs. In this video, operators and technicians demonstrate some of the causes of truck tyre wear.

Tyre Ingredients

Every tyre is engineered using a complex combination of components made from a variety of complementing materials. In this video, operators and technicians are guided through the principles of tyre construction.

Tyre Regrooving

Regrooving is one of the most cost-effective and environmentally friendly methods of extending the life of your truck or bus tyres. Here, Continental’s experts explain the regrooving process, and how regroovable tyres benefit from outstanding durability, safety, and mileage capabilities.

Getting the Best from Tyres

Tyre failures are a lot more common than operators might think. However, a blowout or tyre delamination is more than just an inconvenience. It’s a major road safety risk, especially if you’re carrying a heavy load or travelling at speed. This video guide explains why a quick walkaround inspection of your vehicle’s tyres should never go amiss.

What Truck Tyres Tell Us

At first glance, the combination of letters, numbers and symbols embossed into the sidewall of a truck or bus tyre can be confusing. But this mix of characters contains some vital information that is critical to the safe and legal operation of a truck. This video helps tyre technicians understand exactly what they mean.

Inflation and Zipper Fails

The name may not be common knowledge, but a zipper failure can present a huge risk to tyre technicians. Better known as a blowout, zipper failures are caused when the tyre ruptures unexpectedly in the mid part of the sidewall. The force in which the tyre explodes can cause fatal injuries to a technician servicing the tyre. This video guide highlights some of the precautions that should be taken to reduce the likelihood of a zipper failure.

Inspecting a Tyre

Tyre health – just like human health – should be taken very seriously. That’s why operators must be aware of what to look for when a tyre has begun deteriorating. This easy-to-follow video tutorial helps operators spot the various tell-tale signs of tyre damage.
