Consultations which opened in July 2024 

MHCLG - Proposed reforms to the National Planning Policy Framework and other changes to the planning system 

This consultation is seeking views on the proposed approach to revising the NPPF. It also seeks views on a series of wider national planning policy reforms. Released 30/07/2024 - closes 24/09/2024. 

DfI - Driver and Vehicle Agency (DVA) Consultation – Changing the exhaust emissions test for light vehicles with a modern diesel engine 

This consultation seeks your views on a proposal to change the annual roadworthiness test (MOT test) by introducing an alternative exhaust emissions test for cars and light goods vehicles registered from January 2013 and fitted with a modern diesel engine. Released 24/07/2024 - closes 18/09/2024.

DESNZ - Carbon capture, usage and storage (CCUS): non-pipeline transport and cross-border CO2 networks 

DESNZ sought views and evidence on how to support the future deployment of non-pipeline transport and cross-border CO2 networks. Released 07/05/2024 - closed 16/07/2024. 

DfT - Registering historic, classic, rebuilt vehicles and vehicles converted to electric: call for evidence  

DfT sought evidence to help identify areas of potential change to how historic, classic, rebuilt and electrically converted vehicles are registered with DVLA. Released 09/05/2024 - closed 04/07/2024.

30/07/2024 - DfT - Transport infrastructure review 

An internal review of DfT's capital spend portfolio will be commissioned to support a long-term strategy for transport. 

30/07/2024 - Multi Department - Changes to the Minimum Wage? 

The way the Minimum Wage is set is being changed so it keeps in line with the cost of living. 

25/07/2024 - DVSA - Do you still have drivers who have training to do for their Driver CPC? 

DVSA wrote to you earlier in the year to encourage you to speak to any of your drivers about booking their training early if their driver qualification card is due to expire this September and they still have some of their hours to do. 

25/07/2024 - DfT - Reported road casualties in Great Britain, involving illegal alcohol levels: 2022 

2022 statistics on drink-drive collisions and casualties. 

24/07/2024 - DfT - Transporting dangerous goods: ADR tunnel categories 

Tyne Tunnel changed from ADR category D to category C. 

24/07/2024 - DfT - Vehicle licensing statistics: January to March 2024 

Licensed and registered motor vehicle statistics in Great Britain and the United Kingdom for January to March 2024. 

22/07/2024 - DfT - Sustainable aviation fuel initiatives 

These initiatives will push the government’s mission-driven plan to kick-start economic growth and make Britain a clean energy superpower. 

18/07/2024 - DfT - Vehicle speed compliance statistics for Great Britain: 2023 

Vehicle speed compliance statistics on free-flowing roads in Great Britain. 

17/07/2024 - DfT - Port freight annual statistics: 2023 

Annual statistics on UK port freight traffic for 2023. 

15/07/2024 - TC - Warning over section 19 and 22 permits 

In a recent public inquiry, the Senior Traffic Commissioner, Richard Turfitt, heard a case regarding the school transport vehicles operated by North Lanarkshire Council under section 19 of the Transport Act 1985. The council operates using 35 of these permits. 

12/07/2024 - TC - New Traffic Commissioner appointed 

Following a fair and open recruitment campaign, David Mullan was appointed as a Traffic Commissioner for Great Britain and will be deployed by the Senior Traffic Commissioner to the North Western traffic area. He will start in the role on 19 August 2024. 

11/07/2024 - DfT - Report a dangerous goods incident: rail 

Form for freight companies transporting dangerous goods by rail to report an incident. 

11/07/2024 - DfT - Report a dangerous goods incident: road 

Form for freight companies transporting dangerous goods by road to report an incident. 

11/07/2024 - DfT - Road freight statistics: 2023 

Road freight transported by Great Britain and UK registered heavy goods vehicles (HGV). It also includes statistics on HGV driver vacancies in the UK. 

11/07/2024 - DfT - Transport Secretary kickstarts 'bus revolution' as she promises to support local leaders to deliver better buses up and down the country 

The government’s plan will create and save vital bus routes by allowing communities to take back control of bus services through franchising or public ownership. 

10/07/2024 - DfT - Transport Secretary sets out five key priorities to deliver the biggest overhaul to transport in a generation
