A month in the media - December 2023
During December, media interest in logistics has continued to be high, with the Logistics UK press office busy providing comment on a variety of issues to ensure the views of its members maintain a significant presence in the headlines.
Key topics generating media interest of note include Black Friday, the planned introduction of the EU Border Control System and attacks on shipping in the Red Sea.
By establishing and strengthening strong relationships with the media, and providing timely responses to issues and announcements, the Logistics UK press office team has ensured the opinions of its members are kept in the headlines.
Between 29 November and 27 December, 174 items of editorial coverage were placed by the team, creating the opportunity for around 393 million people to see Logistics UK’s opinions.

Black Friday
Coverage was achieved in The Times after information and comment was provided for a feature on Black Friday, highlighting the jobs boom in the logistics industry.
EU Border Control System
Logistics UK was quoted in the i paper and on the iNews website on the introduction of the new EU Border Control System.
Red Sea shipping
Logistics UK’s comments on attacks on Red Sea shipping were published in an article on Mail Online and in a variety of trade publications.
Logistics Awards
A significant volume of coverage was generated in the regional, trade and online news media following Logistics UK’s 2023 Logistics Awards and the announcement of the winners of the various categories.
The month ahead 
Over the next month, the press team will continue to share members’ opinions on the preparations for the introduction of new border checks, as well as reacting to breaking news stories as they unfold. The industry’s ongoing skills shortage will remain a focus as well as continuing promotion of the Generation Logistics campaign at every opportunity. The team will also start work on promotion of Logistics UK’s 2024 events programme.
