YEEP scales past 2,000 lockers: 

UK-based parcel locker network, YEEP!, has achieved another milestone as over 2,000 of its lockers are now live nationwide – 700 of which are running on solar power.

“This milestone isn’t just about numbers, it’s about momentum,” said Noël Shapton, CEO and Co-Founder of YEEP!. “Going from 1,000 to 2,000 lockers, while launching the UK’s first solar-powered network, shows that our approach is resonating with both hosts and customers.”

This news followed not long after the company unveiled one of the largest solar- powered parcel locker networks. The lockers, which are designed and supplied by kernTerminal, are battery-powered, standalone units that don’t require power or groundworks, and can be installed without disruption. The solar-powered lockers operate entirely off-grid and are powered by integrated solar panels and long-life rechargeable batteries.

DP World introduces new container handling technology: 

DP World has invested £170 million into container handling technology at its London Gateway logistics hub, as part of a move to digitise and automate port operations, yielding efficiency gains.

BOXBAY’s container handling technology, Empty Superstack, was picked for the project as part of an ongoing €1,150 million expansion of the London Gateway port to transform it into the UK’s largest container port.

Empty Superstack represents a new approach to handling empty containers. Using High Bay Storage (HBS) technology, the system can store 20 and 40-foot empty containers up to 16 tiers.

Swissport doubls capacity with new cargo hub:

Amidst Swissport’s wider UK expansion strategy – with new cargo hubs planned across the country – it has announced the establishment of a new cargo facility at Manchester Airport, which will double its annual handling capacity to 110,000 tonnes.

It also increases the company’s operational footprint by 67% compared with the previous site and began full operations on 27 October following an inauguration ceremony on 23 October.

Manchester has been identified by Swissport as a key logistics gateway connecting global trade flow, “a critical hub for the UK’s air cargo network, and this new facility reflects Swissport’s commitment to investing in infrastructure and technology to meet the evolving needs of our customers,” said Joe Bellfield, Swissport’s Chief Operating Officer Cargo UK&I.
