Transport Scotland announces £2 million for decarbonising HGVS in Scotland
Transport Scotland has launched its Heavy Goods Vehicle Market Readiness Fund for 2025-26, committing £2 million to support Scottish firms decarbonise.
The fund is split into two parts, with half the fund designed to support smaller HGV operators invest in the net zero transition. Applications for SME funding opened on 9 July and are live until 9 December 2025.
The second half of the fund is to support the development of a new HGV consortium, promoting collaborative working in order to build a business case for investment into zero emission HGVs and charging infrastructure in Scotland.
Lamech Solomon, Head of Decarbonisation Policy at Logistics UK said: “We welcome the launch of Transport Scotland’s £2 million HGV Market Readiness Fund, which our members believe will be a critical step towards the decarbonisation of Scotland’s HGV fleet.
“Operators have been clear that the path to decarbonisation will be difficult and expensive. This fund, which will support early collaboration between operators, manufacturers, financiers and infrastructure providers, should help the sector to overcome the initial barriers to investment.”
