Mark Cartwright, Head of Commercial Vehicle Incident Prevention, National Highways
Mark Cartwright joined what was then Highways England in February 2020 to head up their Commercial Vehicle Incident Prevention Team.
The role of CVIPT is to identify and develop programmes to reduce collisions on England’s Strategic Route Network involving commercial vehicles. Recent projects include the provision of adapted HGV cabs to police to support their activities, the development of a comprehensive Van Driver Toolkit information service and launching CALMDriver, a suicide prevention / mental health resource specifically designed for the CV drivers.
Prior to joining National Highways, Mark was with Freight Transport Association for over 30 years where he latterly developed and managed their award winning Van Excellence programme.
Will Reeves, Commercial Vehicle & Bus and Coach Section Manager, Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders Ltd (SMMT)
Will Reeves represents the hundreds of suppliers and manufacturers in UK Automotive’s commercial vehicle sector, championing their interests as the industry undergoes rapid change towards zero emission mobility.
SMMT’s Commercial Vehicle and Bus and Coach Sections provides extensive support, insight and a platform for members to gather and discuss the challenges affecting the industry, as well as representing and promoting sector and cross-sector interests to all stakeholders.
Reeves’ previous experience includes more than a decade at Logistics UK, building relationships with OEMs and suppliers. In combination with his first industry role at the Society of Operations Engineers, Reeves has seen first-hand every part of a sector that plays an essential role in the UK, providing the vans, taxi cabs, buses and trucks that keep it moving.

Gill Milner, Head of Risk Management Solutions, Aviva
Gill has over 20 years’ experience in applying risk management across transport, logistics and a range of industry sectors. She leads a specialist team of motor and liability risk consultants, supporting Aviva’s underwriting team requirements. She works closely with her clients to implement an integrated risk management approach, through the development of tailored solutions, utilising technology to enhance business risk control methodologies with the aim of reducing clients’ total cost of risk.
Gill joined Aviva Risk Management Solutions (ARMS) in February 2016 from Willis Towers Watson, where for 9 years she was a Risk Partner and led the Motor Risk Management Practice. During her time at Willis Towers Watson, Gill developed the motor risk management offering in the UK and Europe through evaluating operational risks, developing effective management systems, maximising the use of available vehicle technology, telematics and camera systems in order to manage driver risk and influence driver behaviour. This in turn led to improvements in organisational performance, management of risk, and reduction in road traffic collisions. She also specialised in UK and global safety management audit programmes across a range of industry sectors to ensure compliance and enable continual improvement in health and safety management. She delivered training courses and workshops from board level to shop floor on risk and safety leadership, influencing driver behaviour, certificated IOSH courses, wellbeing, safety culture, accident investigation, root cause analysis, current and emerging risks workshops and ergonomics.
Before joining Willis Towers Watson, Gill worked in industry, initially in the hospitality and leisure industry, monitoring and auditing the health and safety, food hygiene and fire safety at accommodation, as well as auditing excursions, coach and car hire companies throughout Europe.
After a number of years in this field she went on to gain further experience in managing health and safety, fire safety management and fleet management for a unitary local government authority where she developed policies, operational practices, and established safety management systems to ensure robust safety regimes were in place to minimise accidents, injuries and work-related illnesses. Gill then moved into the retail sector as a Health & Safety Manager for a multi sited company in the UK and Ireland where she managed health and safety, fire and food safety for employees and concessions.
Gill is a chartered member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH), a lead auditor of ISO 39001:2012 Road Traffic Safety Management Systems, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, a member of the Institute of Risk Management (IRMCert) and is currently studying for her MSc in Management and Leadership.
Paul Johnson, Business Development Manager, The AA
Paul Johnson brings more than 35 years’ experience in fleet management operations to the team and is responsible for delivering efficient, professional and quality customer-focused service. Following his previous roles at Royal Mail, Hitachi and National Grid, Paul is an integral part of the AA’s Business Services team supporting our Fleet customers. Paul works with key customers on all aspects of fleet management, utilising his vast experience of customer service, data, accident management and SMR.
Andy Hill JP, MSOE, MIRTE, Commercial Vehicle Manager, Lex Autolease
Andy has 37 years of experience in the commercial vehicle arena, with the last 23 years in the leasing industry.
Adopting a consultative approach Andy likes to get under the skin of his customers and their businesses, understanding their challenges, needs and aspirations connected to the commercial vehicle fleet. This approach and attention to detail has helped bring innovation, efficiencies and improvements to fleets across many different industry sectors such retail, construction, facilities management, rail, passenger transport and emergency services to name just a few.
Always with an eye on health & safety, new developments, technologies and legislation Andy will ensure that any solutions he delivers are modern, safe, legally compliant, fit for purpose and as far as possible future proof to all known upcoming legislation.
Well know and highly respected in the LCV industry, Andy sits on the influential BVRLA Commercial Vehicle Committee and plays an active role in the Logistics UK Van Excellence Scheme.
Dan Crutchington, Senior Transport Advisor​, Logistics UK
Daniel Crutchington’ career began in a tachograph checking role, and since finishing university has had various roles in an FMCG operation, before becoming Transport Manager of a large two-man home delivery operation. Dan joined Logistics UK in February 2020 as a Senior Transport Advisor and one of the most enjoyable aspects is being able to discuss a variety of topics every day and share information with people
Denise Beedell, Public Policy Manager, Logistics UK.
Denise helps to deliver Logistic UK’s urban and environmental logistics policy agenda, in particular, proactively leading Logistics UK’s policy work on vans, including publications, information services and discussion forums in connection with policy and regulatory issues. Denise joined Logistics UK in August 2018 from the Federation of Small Businesses, where she was Development Manager for Greater London and led on Transport, Environment and Crime policy issues in the capital.
Laura Moran, Managing Director, TVL Security
Laura has over 30 years’ experience in the automotive sector covering various senior roles in vehicle rental, remarketing, on-line car buying and vehicle dismantling. Laura has spent 10 years working in the van sector including the role of Commercial Vehicle Director at Hertz and now in her most recent role as Managing Director at TVL Group which includes TVL Security.
TVL Security are the leaders in vehicle security innovation, focusing primarily on the van market and their credentials speak for themselves with TVL Security lock packs being fitted as factory options on Ford Transit vans across Europe.
