Mechanical Handling Equipment Inspections and Thorough Examinations (MHE)

These inspections focus on the operation and mechanics of mechanical handling and lifting equipment in warehouse and site settings. Covering both general audits and statutory thorough examinations.

Lifting equipment inspections fall under PUWER obligations and Lifting Operation and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER), which are governed by HSE. LOLER requires lifting equipment to be examined:

  • at least six months in the case of attachments or lifting people,
  • at least every 12 months in the case of other lifting equipment,
  • every time an exceptional circumstance arises that jeopardises safety.

MHE equipment covered by our inspections:

  • Fork lift (counterbalance, truck mounted, telehandler, reach, order picker).
  • Pallet trucks.
  • Mini digger.
  • 360° excavator/grab.
  • Mechanical loader (skid steer, loading shovel).
  • Tractor.
  • Mobile elevating work platform (scissor lift, cherry picker).
