Tuesday 24 April 2018

Aldi’s Chelmsford Distribution Centre has received a 2018 Roadworthiness Award from the Freight Transport Association (FTA) at the Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham today (24 April).  The award recognises the organisation’s high standards when maintaining its fleet of vehicles and trailers and controlling safety related defects.

FTA is the only organisation in the UK that represents all of logistics, with more than 16,000 members.  It provides vehicle inspection services to organisations keen to achieve the very highest levels of safety and compliance.

Presenting the award, FTA’s Chief Executive David Wells said:  "I’m delighted to present the prestigious Roadworthiness Award to Aldi Chelmsford in recognition of the excellence it has achieved in vehicle safety and its commitment to maintaining the best standards of compliance and vehicle condition.  This award reflects the very high benchmark set by Aldi and I would like to congratulate everyone involved in the efforts that are obviously being made to ensure the fleet is safe, legal and efficient at all times.”

FTA's Roadworthiness Awards highlight its members' efforts in maintaining their fleets to the highest standards.  They also recognise excellent levels of vehicle safety, condition and maintenance and are designed to encourage and reward best practice in compliance with vehicle condition legislation.

Aldi Stores Ltd Chelmsford Transport Manager, Spencer Cull, said: “Aldi Stores Ltd is delighted to receive the prestigious FTA Roadworthiness Award.  We are incredibly proud of the high standards that we maintain throughout our fleet.  Health and Safety is a key priority throughout our work, and this award can be attributed to everyone in our transport department, as it recognises their exceptional contribution to maintaining our excellent safety record.”
