LCRS Awards – last call for entries

Thursday 06 February 2014

The Freight Transport Association has issued a reminder that the closing date for entries to this year's Logistics Carbon Reduction Scheme (LCRS) Awards is 5pm on Friday 14 February.

The presentation of the second annual LCRS Awards will take place during FTA's Cutting Carbon, Cutting Costs Conference, to be held at the National Motorcycle Museum, Solihull, West Midlands, on Wednesday 21 May. The Awards were developed to celebrate the efforts of green leaders in the freight industry, recognising the efforts of individual LCRS members to reduce their carbon emissions from freight activity.

Rachael Dillon, FTA's Climate Change Policy Manager, said:

"The LCRS Awards provide an excellent opportunity for fleet operators to earn the recognition they deserve for the efforts they are making to improve fuel efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. The Awards indicate to customers, stakeholders, policymakers and the public that the freight industry is making every effort to solve the climate change challenge."

The Awards categories are:

• Best fuel efficient operation (sponsored by Bridgestone)
• Most innovative fleet management (sponsored by Iveco)
• Best use of alternative low carbon fuels and technologies
• Breakthrough in modal shift
• Leadership in logistics carbon reduction

Any LCRS member company with a green freight initiative worthy of an award is invited to enter one or more of the award categories – entry is free and applications can be made for one or more of the award categories by completing an application form, which is available to download at http://www.fta.co.uk/lcrs

The Cutting Carbon, Cutting Costs Conference is an interactive event, aiming to provide specialist carbon reduction advice for freight operators with a range of workshops to suit their own fleet and business. Focusing on the latest operational and technological measures, the conference will provide delegates with tactics to improve efficiency, reduce carbon emissions and ultimately lower fuel costs.
