Olympic award for FTA's Natalie Chapman

Tuesday 23 October 2012

The Freight Transport Association's Head of Policy for London, Natalie Chapman, has been presented with a special award by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) for her outstanding contribution to the efficient operation of freight and logistics during the Olympic Games. Natalie was one of four recipients of these awards alongside Mick Wright from LOCOG, Traffic Commissioner Sarah Bell and Ian Wainwright from Transport for London (TfL).

Theo de Pencier, FTA's Chief Executive, said:

"We are delighted that Natalie’s efforts on behalf of FTA members and the logistics industry as a whole have been recognised in this way. All the feedback has indicated that her hard work and dedication made a significant contribution to ensuring that deliveries could be made successfully during the Olympics and ultimately contributed to the success of the Games as a whole."

Natalie Chapman said:

"I'm really proud to be in such great company as a recipient of this special CILT award. Working on the Games preparations was an extraordinary experience and the successful outcome would not have been possible without the outstanding contribution and dedication of the freight industry. Now the Olympics are over, FTA is working to secure a long-term legacy for the industry."

The awards, part of the CILT Annual Awards for Excellence 2012, were presented by TfL Commissioner Peter Hendy and CILT President Graham Inglis, the CEO of DHL Supply Chain. Peter Hendy commented that the uninterrupted continuity of deliveries to shops, hospitals and businesses during the Games had been a great credit to the logistics industry.
